The International Companies (TIC) is comprised of three unique operating groups, a feed ingredient manufacturing firm, and a value-added food ingredient system manufacturer, and food ingredient trading/distribution firm, and a full-service sustainability partner to major food companies. The acquisition and management of raw materials for each of these businesses plays a critical strategic role in the growth, competitiveness, and profitability of each firm.

International Food Products: IFP is a complex trading, distribution, and value-added manufacturer of food ingredients and systems selling food ingredients in a highly competitive marketplace. For IFP’s largest and growing product categories, Sugar, Oils, Flour, Corn Sweeteners, Stabilizers, and Fine Ingredients, competitiveness, and growth are dependent on superior market relationships and knowledge, and informed trading or risk-taking. For the legacy Dairy House manufacturing business, the primary source of growth and profitability is the development of unique ingredient systems. However, access to critical raw materials such as cocoa and hydrocolloids, and price control of many fine ingredients are vital to quality, availability, and margin preservation.

International Ingredient Corporation: IIC competes for raw materials. Access to scarce raw materials is central to IIC’s growth opportunities and profitability.  As such IIC has developed relationships, and strategies, and provides services to potential vendors that provide secure access to scarce raw materials.

Green Field Solutions: GFS supports major food producers with a full suite of services that help them manage their organic by-products, recyclables and solid waste in an economical, sustainable and safe manner. Through our materials management, R&D, sustainability, and information management service, we assist our customers maximize revenues while minimizing their use of internal resources and their carbon footprint.

Responsibilities Include

  • This role would support both the IFPC and IIC business units
  • Own the input and continuous reconciliation of purchase contracts into NAV
  • Track allocations and communicate deviations from the plan to category leadership
  • Review min/max order levels to keep up with business needs & vendor expectations as provided by category leadership
  • Track late/problem shipments and be the first line of communication with vendor above vendor customer service level
  • Investigate and track customer & internal complaints dealing with vendor relations
  • Request updated freight rates from vendors
  • Manage pricing expectations from vendor to purchasing coordinators as needed
  • Own communication on pricing increase/decrease to sales and pricing coordinators
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to conduct routine margin reviews & help provide root cause analysis on low-margin transactions
  • Solve pricing discrepancies between vendor invoices and internal POs
  • Champion the sample request process from both internal stakeholders, such as sales and R&D teams, and external vendors
  • Perform New Items Set Up tasks required by the purchasing department
  • Request product Information & Document requests from Vendors for our organization
  • Request new vendor set up and file out required documentation for the accounting department
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate any oddities noticed to category leadership
  • Perform ad hoc report building to support category leadership as needed
  • Backup for Category managers & category buyers

The successful candidate must have the following qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree a plus, preferably in business or agriculture discipline
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a support or procurement role, experience in food ingredients preferred
  • Dairy industry experience is preferred, but not required
  • Basic Excel skills – pivot tables, lookup functions, etc – as well as familiarity with the entire Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; both verbal and written including the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization.
